Charleston International Airport
Charleston, South Carolina, United States
First visit: 20 February 2012
CHS is an interesting combination of a commercial airport, a military base, and a Boeing 787 factory. Between all of those, you can see quite an interesting variety of aircraft when you’re taxiing around Charleston. My favorite to see was always the Dreamlifter—a heavily modified, even larger version of the Boeing 747 which Boeing mostly uses to move airplane parts between its factories.
All of my travel to CHS took place in 2012–2013, when I had a subcontractor in the area that I had to visit frequently for work. I’ve been back to Charleston a couple times since then, but I ended up driving rather than flying.
