Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport

While not a large airport, Anchorage (ANC) does serve as a focus for connecting to many small towns in Alaska. Operating such small aircraft from the South Terminal, the Concourse A gates were not behind security—the first time I’ve noticed this at a U.S. commercial airport. (I’ve seen this a few times in other countries, notably with turboprop flights in Iceland and New Zealand).
ANC also had a lake for seaplanes—not a particularly common feature for most U.S. airports!
