It’s a shame that I don’t end up flying Delta very often, since I like most of their hubs. And MSP is probably my favorite Delta hub—it’s a great airport for a layover.

MSP Terminal 1

Terminal 1, where Delta operates out of, generally follows the form of a figure 9, with a few piers and satellites connected to it. A tram runs along the entire length of Concourse C, with a stop in the middle of C as well. Between the layout and the tram, it doesn’t take too long to move around the whole terminal, despite its fairly large size.

Concurse D has a staircase up to an observation deck, which is where I took the photo at the top of this post.

Though there are restaurants and shops spread throughout the terminal, there’s a central mall area where concourses C, D, E, F, and G meet. The mall also has a mezzanine level up above, which is a good place for quieter seating.

If you have a longer layover, there’s a train that will take you from MSP to the nearby Mall of America—one of the largest shopping malls in the country, complete with its own indoor theme park. The mall also has lockers available for hire, so you don’t have to drag your carry-on luggage around with you.
