The first time I stopped at GRK was a diversion on a flight from Rapid City when a thunderstorm temporarily closed Dallas/Fort Worth, my destination. We weren’t on the ground long enough to deplane; the weather opened up and we continued on to DFW without me getting to step inside of GRK.
As I’d learned with Austin, my work would let me fly into further away airports as long as they were cheaper, so I similarly picked up GRK on a work trip to Abilene, marking the first time I got to actually visit the airport terminal.
